Wow it has been over a year now since these two systems were released. I am a fan of both platforms and well versed in each. The PS4 is the leader based on specs. They both have plenty of storage with 500GB hard drives in each. Xbox is the winner with its online platform as Sony seems to be playing catch-up and with the recent outages has caused some frustration within its Play station network fans. As newer models are developed prices will drop further to keep underlying demand strong. The PS4 specs have a much more robust processor and developers were out in front which gave Sony the edge during launch. Microsoft announced the restriction issue with games being played only on the initial system it was installed on and quickly corrected due to many fans cried foul and began to defect to the PS4. I can debate the pro's and cons of both but one real sticking point for me was Microsoft failing to include a blue ray player with the 360 platform in which now is included with the One. Of course now it is irrelevant with the likes of Netflix and Amazon which goes back to my point about consoles and their longevity and relevance. PS4 sales have outpaced the Xbox One and I would relate that solely to the user experience. The graphics are much more intense as developers are taking advantage of the processor and GPU which is 50% more powerful than the Xbox One. Also the headroom for the OS is much less with the PS4 system when you look at usable storage space. In my view Sony wins with better performance and an excellent overall user experience. The future will be online with some hybrid TV units acting as a console like Samsung's smart OLED 4K TV's. Price is still prohibitive to be competitive but in time consoles will be history.
